Tell us a little about Outside Inn and your role within the group?
The Outside Inn is a Melbourne based collective that consists of singers, rappers, producers, photographers and more. My role is predominantly a rapper in the group but I hope to experiment in other artistic areas.

How did you get into music?
I've always been a fan of music in general. I grew up with strong roots of soul, jazz, funk and reggae influenced by my family. At the age 12, I started writing lyrics to hip-hop instrumentals as I felt they resonated with me the most and saw it as the best form of expression.

Take us through the process of how a song comes together? How was that experience?

The process is always organic, I don't like to create things when they clash with my current mood or situation. I normally start with the beat and write my lyrics around it after listening to it a few times. The lyrics may come to me naturally on the spot or from notes I've taken down on my phone about ideas, concepts, metaphors and punchlines.

You guys have played a fair few gigs and even done a festival. Do you ever get nervous?

Before we formed The Outside Inn, I was able to perform a few gigs over previous years which I would always get nervous about. These days I feel it is more natural and I try to live in the moment as much as possible. Music comes as second nature to me now so I rarely get nervous. Even the feeling of nerves itself, I see it as an abundance of energy that you just have to control and channel into your performance.

Would you ever consider a solo career?
Definitely considered a solo career and it will all happen in due time. I plan to have my first solo project out in 2016.

Does living in a creative city in Melbourne inspire you? If so how?
110%! Melbourne I would say is the most developed country in Australia but Australia is still young as a country in comparison to the rest of the world. Everything from the food to the diverse suburbs to international cultures, graffiti, different scenes of music etc etc - these are all massive influences and as a 'Melbournian' you essentially become a product of your environment.

What advice would you give to others who aspire to be in the music industry?
Be the first you, not the next somebody else. Go with your gut and take risks or else you'll never know what could have been.
