Tell us a little about Yve Gold?

Before I sang I played acoustic guitar. Around the age of 13 i started writing folky tunes and found my voice. I then began training my voice and sang soul and blues - around the same time was writing poetry, one of my many forms of expression, and that became my favourite. I started predominantly making hip hop music around 2011.

 

How did you know you could rap and sing? Take us through the process of how a song comes together? 

Musicians write songs in varied ways, I like to hear the beat first, let it evoke a feeling in me. Once I hear the beat, let it consume me and allow feeling to surface the melodies and words flow freely - it should always sound as if you wrote with little effort but much finesse.

 

Saw your music is doing amazing on Triple J. That is quite the achievement. How did it feel seeing that lots of people were loving your music? 

Triple J has been great so far ! Having 3 of my tracks at the top of the Unearthed charts was an amazing feeling! But as with any triumph you must show gratitude then move on to the next stepping stone. It's awesome knowing there's an increasing number of people listening to my music, that's why I do it, to connect with as many souls as possible. The aim is to hear Triple J spin an Yvé Gold track by the end of the year!

 

Does living in a creative city in Melbourne inspire you? If so how?

Melbourne, what a brilliant city. Her creativity, diversity and beauty will always inspire me and she will always be home.

 

 

What advice would you give to others who aspire to be in the music industry?

My advice to aspiring musicians is simple. Know exactly what you want, stay positive, work hard and most importantly, learn about the laws of attraction. Recipe for success right there.

Collabs: I'm all about vibe. If it feels right and the beat is great I'm in. Collab ŵ Lorde would be cool though.
